Healing Service
Aug 1 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Healing Service

The primary ministry of Jesus is healing. He came to this world to reconcile and heal. His mission was to bring redemption, change, and wholeness which is taken away from us every day through our acts of omission or commission.

In this healing service, our priest and trained ministers through the laying on of hands implores God’s healing touch upon all who need it. You will be invited to come forward to the altar to experience the power of Jesus who can heal memories of the past, moments of life now and movements of the future. When the paralyzed was brought to Jesus, or when the blind or lame were brought to Him, Jesus first removed the obstacles for healing by forgiving their sins. Jesus helped those who came to him to get in touch with their inner self and encouraged them to make a change in their lifestyle. “Come follow me.”

Anointing with oil is an integral part of this worship night. Communion from the table completes the evening. Anyone from any background of faith or not, seeking healing is invited to join.

Wrapped in Prayer
Aug 1 @ 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Wrapped in Prayer

The “Wrapped in Prayer” group began in the Fall of 2012 when a group of St. James women decided that they wanted to start a prayer shawl ministry.

Shawls are given for healing, for comfort, for those who mourn, those who move away, and for anniversaries, birthdays and other special occasions. Members can ask for a shawl for someone and they will be given out as they are available.

As the shawls are being crafted, prayers are offered for the unknown person who will receive the shawl. When a shawl has been completed, it is blessed by Fr. Jos during a service (usually Wednesday or Sunday).

This group meets Wednesdays in the church library from 12:30-2:00 p.m. All are welcome to knit or do needlework of their choice. We provide prayer shawls for congregants who are experiencing illness, difficult times or loss. We also choose mission projects to do.

We would love to add new members to our group, all are welcome–men and women alike. If you don’t know how to knit or crochet or are out of practice, we will teach you. Please come and join our ministry and a group of friends!

For more information, call the church office at 881-3073.

“Since my youth, I think that I have never lost the intuition that community life could be a sign that God is love, and love alone. Gradually the conviction took shape in me that it was essential to create a community with men determined to give their whole life and who would always try to understand one another and be reconciled, a community where kindness of heart and simplicity would be at the centre of everything.”

Brother Roger: “God is love alone”

Bible Study
Aug 5 @ 9:30 am – 10:15 am
Bible Study

Every Sunday we gather to delve deep into the Bible. With the help of several leaders, we study the cultural, theological and exegetical significance of the Biblical texts. We enter into deep discussion and prayer so that we understand the underlying meaning of the Words we read. This study helps us to put the Word of God into our everyday life.

Faith & Reason
Aug 5 @ 9:30 am – 10:15 am
Faith & Reason

Faith is solidified with reason and reason is confirmed by faith. it is a journey towards each other. Some of the most difficult questions in the Bible always will remain hard to crack and difficult to understand. It does not mean we should not ask them and be puzzled by them. We all have questions for which no one has answers for. In the end, we are on a journey. To be able to ask a question is a necessary step to lasting and unchangeable faith.

In this class, anyone can bring up any question that they are struggling with or questions that one thinks are too important to ignore. No question out there is silly or simple. No question is too small or too big to shake up God. God is a big enough to contain the questions that sometimes unsettles us. True faith begins when true and deep questions exhaust.
